As a young kid I loved physical challenges. I was constantly trying to test how high I could jump, how fast I could run, how far I could ride my bike, or how many push ups I could do. As I got a little older this transitioned into participating in team sports including basketball, baseball, volleyball and track. As an adult I struggled to find something that filled the void of not being in team sports and pushed my body to the limits. That is until I found CrossFit.
As part of the CrossFit community I have the opportunity to test all those things I loved as a kid and hang out with my new teammates/family. Most importantly, I have the opportunity to help others improve their health, fitness, and happiness in a supportive and welcoming environment as we all strive to Live Life Better!
When I am not in the gym, I love to spend time in the mountains and at the lake. I am an avid bowhunter, trail runner, snowboarder and wakeboarder.
I have two crazy, adventurous men in my life, my husband Zach, and my dog G.

I was always active growing up. I was involved in basketball and track in high school. I also discovered mountain biking during high school and fell in love with it. It wasn’t until I joined the Navy that I truly realized I had a love of fitness. I couldn’t get enough! I got my first experience as a coach/trainer in the Navy also, when I became the physical fitness coordinator for my division. I enjoyed helping people reach their goals and become healthier. Over the years, I’ve participated in many different types of activities. Everything from bodybuilding, power lifting, and strongman, to triathlons. I love all of them! This would become the basis for my interest in CrossFit. I think it’s great that CrossFit not only includes aspects of many of these activities but also benefits all of them, and more! The thing I enjoy most about CrossFit is the community, especially here at CrossFit Zephyr. We are a family, and I love it!!

Growing up, I followed in my siblings footsteps and started playing sports young. I played volleyball and tennis. I was always athletic and never knew what it was like to be out of shape until I had my femur shortened and 4 other surgeries due to complications. Being on crutches for a year puts a big damper on your physical activity. I went to New Mexico State University where I received a bachelors in Kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science. It was in my exercise classes when I realized just how out of shape I was and just how difficult it is to get back in shape. The monotonous task of going to the gym and forcing myself to do the same movements over and over again and expect to get better was getting me nowhere. It wasn’t until my brother and sister-in law, opened CrossFit Zephyr when I found my exercise niche. At first I thought it was some crazy fad but later fell in love with the constantly varied, high intensity movements. I look forward to helping others accomplish their goals and find their fitness niche.

Starting gymnastics very young was my first introduction to physical activities and sports. I was a gymnast until 8 years old, then I was a youth recreational cheerleader for three years and one more year at the high school level. Both gymnastics and cheering showed me the importance of dedication to practice and having fun with teammates you can count on. During my last year of cheer, I was introduced to CrossFit at CrossFit Zephyr. My mom began going there and I would go with her. Seeing such a variety of people be involved in the workouts together to reach personal goals was extremely encouraging.
I decided to take my involvement to the next level and become a coach. Coaching allows me to share my experiences and knowledge to provide others with an encouraging way to go beyond their goals. It is amazing to be around a group with an important value in health.
To give my mind a workout, I enjoy sewing/quilting and trying new things. I graduated from UNM with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science. Being a part of this supportive family furthers my love for the sport and for the community!

I grew up playing and loving majority of sports but have always had a passion for baseball. I got a scholarship to pitch at a junior college in Arizona. I pitched there for two years where I found an enjoyment for lifting and working out. I then transferred to UNM and walked on to the baseball team where I found my desire to coach and train athletes.
I recently graduated with a BLA (Bachelors of Liberal Arts) from UNM. I also recently recieved my level 1 CrossFit trainer certification and am studying to get my CSCS. I hadn’t really participated in CrossFit but have had an amateur weightlifting background. I recently got involved at CrossFit Zephyr and immediately fell in love with the gym, the workouts, and the community. Zephyr is the home gym and coaching mentorship that I have been looking for the past 3-4 years.
I enjoy coaching for a few different reasons. I love being able to see short term as well as long term corrections and results. Whether a person is simply working on improving their pull up or trying to improve an entire lifestyle, it is amazing to see the progression of where they started and where they finished, regardless of how big or how small the task was. I was also fortunate enough to grow up under a handful of tremendous coaches and feel a need to give back a lot of the knowledge and passion given to me. This applies more for baseball coaching, but I really enjoy working with people trying to better themselves in the weight room as well because I have had people help me in the weight room and continue to have great coaches! I also coach because I am genuinely interested in both of my coaching fields. I studied exercise science and enjoy trying to help others increase athleticism as well physically improve myself. I also find baseball and other sports very interesting and wanted to work with and coach athletes for the rest of my life.

E-RYT 500
I was an athlete from a young age, starting gymnastics at 2 years old and grew up in the sport, then transitioned to being a competitive swimmer until college. I loved that both gymnastics and swimming were more individual sports but relied on team camaraderie. Being involved in sports taught me dedication, determination, and accountability, all which I try to bring into coaching style. When I was 19 I completed my Prana Vinyasa Flow Yoga Certification, and began teaching both adult and kids classes. I currently hold my E-RYT 500 and love teaching yoga at Zephyr! Outside of coaching I serve as the Community Relations Coordinator at Fidelity Investments, where I work to create volunteer opportunities for Fidelity employees at local nonprofits and schools.
I found CrossFit through Strongman – I used to be on a team of strongman athletes who participated in various competitions. While I loved Strongman (or strongwoman as we would call it!) I always enjoyed our “Sunday Funday WODs” the most, which pulled workouts from CrossFit. I joined Zephyr in February of 2020 and haven’t looked back since. One night I had a conversation with Coach Madison in the gym about possibly completing my CF Level-1 and the next thing I knew I was signed up for the course and being onboarded as a Zephyr coach! My favorite part of coaching is the community that Coach Tammy and rest of the Zephyr team has built. It truly feels like a family and I love it!
Outside of work and coaching, I love to be outdoors. I have a dog named Shanti who loves to go on walks along the Bosque or in the foothills. I enjoy working on house projects and attempting weekly crossword puzzles with Coach Madison!
